Go here: http://quiltinlibrarylady.blogspot.com/2008/10/thing-11.html
to read my ramblings about technology. Tech can be great or it can be the pits depending on how all the gear is working.
I've been visiting other blogs as well. I get a kick out of some of the names of blogs and wonder about the stories behind them. I comment to a few posts, but mostly I just read & enjoy.

They use to tell us in school that techology doubles every 10 years. The progress I have seen from the first computers to phones that are mini computers is amazing. I never dreamed that I would have a computer in my house or one that you could carry around. My technology learning has come a long way. I once got my kids laughing when I asked them what a cursor was.

I meant to throw this in somewhere in Thing 11 -- at last spring's MPLA / ULA conference, one of the presentations was about Office 2.0, the concept that web applications could totally free one from a fixed base of operations.
Using web mail is a first step; a remotely hosted web site with "edit from anywhere" capability is high on the list as well.
In a library, who is doing real-time circulation from a handheld portable wireless device (imagine freedom from the circ desk so you could wander the building, help folks in the shelves & check stuff out to them right then & there).

On my Blog there is a very good looking librarian who speaks and bats her eyes at everyone. I think she's me but I really don't bat my eyes like that. I'm not that good looking either...sigh. I really had fun with the Voki and think everyone should make one. I am headed off now to plant a few coments on various posts. I have enjoyed reading them. Thing #11 is done. Marie and I are catching up a little bit.
